Understand Your Policy
Policies can be complicated after a disaster. NFR reviews your policy, explains it in plain language, and works with your carrier so you understand what is covered.
How the carrier values damaged property.
The property and expenses a policy may protect.
Which events the policy includes—or leaves out.
How We Handle Your Claim
The complete eight-step process is still here, now organized into expandable phases. Scan the outcome of every phase, then open the details that matter to you.
Start at Step One
01Step 1
Get everyone safe, stop additional damage, and start the claim correctly.
When disaster strikes, your first priority is safety. Once everyone is secure, NFR steps in to stop further damage and begin the claims process.
Emergency services are typically covered by your policy. If not, we provide upfront, industry-standard pricing. If your property is unlivable, your insurance may cover temporary housing or living expenses. We help you track receipts and stay organized so nothing is missed.
02Step 2
Create a detailed, itemized scope with your adjuster.
Once your property is secure, our project manager and your insurance adjuster assess the damage together. We create a detailed scope of work that outlines what was affected, the repairs needed, and the estimated costs.
All damages are itemized using industry-standard pricing software, so there are no surprises. Our philosophy is to restore whenever possible and only replace when necessary. Nothing moves forward until both you and your insurance carrier approve the plan.
03Step 3
Align the scope, costs, payments, and depreciation before restoration begins.
Once all damage reports and estimates are submitted, your insurance carrier reviews the claim. NFR works directly with the adjuster to make sure the scope of work is accurate and complete. Restoration does not begin until the insurance company issues approval.
Our job is to advocate for you, streamline the process, and ensure your claim reflects the full cost of restoring your property.
04Step 4
Safely remove compromised materials while protecting the livable parts of your property.
After approval, the next step is safe demolition of damaged areas. Depending on the severity of the loss, this may include removing drywall, flooring, cabinetry, or other compromised materials. All work follows local building codes, and when needed, a structural engineer evaluates the property.
05Step 5
Choose like-kind and quality replacements before anything is ordered.
Once demolition is complete, we move into replacing damaged materials. This often includes flooring, cabinetry, appliances, plumbing, and light fixtures. Our goal is to restore items with like-kind and quality materials whenever possible.
If the original product is no longer available, we work with you to select the closest match. Before anything is ordered, you’ll review and approve the options to ensure you’re satisfied with the final look and quality.
06Step 6
Bring your home or business back to a safe, functional, comfortable condition.
Restoration means bringing your property back to its pre-loss condition. Our team focuses on making your home or business safe, functional, and comfortable again so you can return to normal life as quickly as possible.
We’ll stay in close communication, address your concerns, and follow through on the approved scope of work.
Note: Insurance policies cover restoration, not remodeling or upgrades. If you’d like additional improvements, your project manager can coordinate those as separate work outside the insurance claim.
07Step 7
Verify every repair, safety detail, and function before completion.
At National First Response, we believe quality isn’t just a final check—it’s built into every step of the process. Still, before your project is officially complete, our team conducts a final inspection to make sure every repair and restoration detail meets the highest standards.
We review all work performed, confirm safety and functionality, and walk the property with you to ensure you are fully satisfied. Our goal is to deliver consistent, reliable results that restore your property and your peace of mind.
08Step 8
Correct final issues, sign the completion certificate, and release remaining payments.
Once restoration is finished, our project manager will meet with you on-site to review every detail of the work. If you notice any issues, they’ll be documented and corrected quickly, usually within three business days.
After you’re satisfied, you’ll sign a Certificate of Completion that confirms the project is finished. At this point, your insurance carrier will close out the claim and release any final payments, including depreciation if it applies.
Claim Support That Stays Visible
Claimsparency lets you track progress on your claim and property. If your deductible is an issue, ask our Response Team about no-interest deductible financing. Financial hardship doesn’t have to become part of the disaster.
